As a general rule of thumb use 42 rear and 36 front,

It should be printed on a label under the seat.

cut and paste.

Odd that Alan and Ozmick quote much higher pressuers. Personally, I
never run anything near 42psi in the rear tyre, but then we know my
attitude towards tyre pressures generally.

Recommended pressures for the ZZR1100 are 40/40 and I generally stick to
manufacturers stated pressures. I checked with Avon as to what they say
should be in these AV45/46 STs and they said 36/42, but it doesn't feel
*quite* right, so I may well go back to the 40/40 that I had in the
Bridgestones.

Recalling my conversation to (I think you) earlier. Tha back is
certainly a lot firmer and more precise than it used to be but you feel
more bumps.

I'm leaving it as it is for a few more weeks as it's starting to feel
better than it did initially..

Indeed - "there's some pressure in there, that'll do" sort of thing.
I'm a bit of a stickler for checking pressures myself - they get done
at least once a year, whether the tyre's being replaced or not.

Errm i don't but i'll google for it later, guess you run them a bit
lower then.

42 is quoted from the Honda manual, but the local petrol station
doesn't go past 40, so i've always left it at that or maybe a couple
of psi less on the couple of times it's been on track.

Only started thinking it seemed a bit high after looking at the mille
manual which quotes 2.2/2.5 bar for most tyres (32/36) and the mille
is about 20 kg heavier than the cbr. The on-track pressures quoted are
even lower, some tyres quoted are down at 1.9/2.0 bar (27/29).

Maybe Japanese like it hard, and the Italians like it soft.

er, no, my atitude is usually - if they've got air in, then that's
close enough.

Well, quite. I always thought mid 30s ish was fairly normal/standard.
For the track we use 29/31, which is what one of the tyre
supplier/changing chaps reckons is the current consensus.

Google is your friend. From an american site, mind
(http://www.drivegreen.com/Motorcycle_Tire_Pressure/HONDA.shtml), so
then model designiations are slightly different.
model/year/front/rear
CBR600 F 1989-1990 34 36
Don't forget, you'll have to convert from American to Imperial.

They'll need to be higher if they're Bridgestones, too, ime.
